NEWSLETTERS
BRIEFS AND DETAILS:
1. Newsletter for Tropical Agriculture Association, published quarterly. Ongoing job since June 2000.
Work very closely with the Editor, liaising by email and ‘snail-mail’.
Worked to original design for first few issues, then suggested more modern approach, culminating in the March 2006 issue, pictured right.
Receive text files from Editor with general instructions for each issue. Complete freedom regarding layout and design. Illustrations and photographs for each issue are received either in digital format or by post for scanning. Most diagrams/line art (and some photographs!) are embedded into Word files, so all need to be printed to postscript and saved in the correct format, or completely re-drawn.
Produce press ready, copy to CD and post, with hard copy, to printer. Produce colour copy to be posted on the TAA website.
2. In June 2001, suggested to Editor that contributors supply photographs, as up till then only diagrams had been used to illustrate papers, this paper was written by Tina Bone and published as ‘encouragement’.
3 and 4. Two monthly newsletters originally designed and typeset by Tina Bone which became so successful they were taken over by a ‘city’ publisher, and more titles added.
